Julie Schletker

Julie displayed confidence as she treated and evaluated my daughter.  She treated her as an individual and checked on her frequently to make sure her IV was okay.  One thing that meant a lot to my daughter was the gentle, patient and respectful way that she assisted my daughter with using the bed pan.  She never dismissed her pain, her feelings or apprehensions.

Julie easily interacted with us parents and our daughter.  We enjoyed conversations with Julie about childhood experiences and especially the weather.  We were not familiar with tornado sirens and Julie helped us relax about them by sharing her own personal stories which actually made us laugh a lot.  A very special moment was when Julie helped my daughter pick out her prom gown.

My daughter was curious why Julie become a nurse.  Julie openly stressed about nursing school, the type of courses required and the vast opportunities associated with the medical field.  She also shared with us about the great reputation of CCHMC and renowned colorectal unit.

When my daughter was very nauseous and struggling with parts of her manometry testing, Julie listened to her concerns and talked her through the difficult period.  Honestly, Julie's presence was a calming effect in the room.  Her standard of care made this experience a positive one.

Julie clearly explained the steps of the procedures and the processes for the tests.  She asked what foods and drinks were preferred.  Upon discharge she clarified with my daughter about questions on her medicine and dosing schedule.  She asked if we understood or if we had any more questions before leaving.
