Katie McGuire

Today wasn't a good day for me. Suffering all night long from diarrhea, fever and insomnia, Katie started her shift with a great big smile and a wonderful hello.  Immediately my mood changed as I started to embrace her positive attitude and infectious smile.  All day long, Katie checked up on me to ensure I was ok.  When it was time to receive a special medication, Katie asked if anyone had educated me on the meds, complication and side effects.  I told her no.  Within 5 minutes Katie had a wonderful printout of information and then kneeled by my bedside to explain the benefits and complications with this particular drug.  In addition she managed to sneak in a few jokes to kinda lighten the day.

Katie is an exceptional RN.  I think her commitment to quality patient care, empathy for her patients, as well as commitment to Community Hospital North would make this young lady deserving of the DAISY Award.  Katie, thank you for a job well done.  You've brightened my spirit while helping me with my recovery.  You are stellar; you are the best; you are my DAISY!
