LaVecie Harwood

One of my patients was well-known to Vecie, who had an inoperable peripheral vascular condition and had no immediate family who were involved. Vecie recognized a change in his condition and mental status from her previous experiences with this patient. Vecie helped me perform skin and wound care for this gentleman, tenderly cleaning his excoriated skin and talking to him gently despite his decreased responsiveness. She helped to position him as comfortable as possible.  I was so grateful to know that he had the comforting voice of someone who knew him there in his last hours in the absence of family members.  Vecie provided care as I would hope my father or grandfather would receive.
