HemoDialysis

Min-Sheng Hospital

Taoyuan, Taiwan

Nurse Huang Li-Shia has been working at Min-Sheng for over 27 years. After graduating from nursing school, she started working at the Orthopedics Department at Min-Sheng, before transferring to the hemodialysis ward in June of 1987. Later, she assisted Min-Sheng Hospital start providing peritoneal dialysis treatment and became the first peritoneal dialysis training staff. During her time there, she endeavored to care for every patient with a genuine heart. She has a willingness to accept changes because she believes change is good and she also believes being open-minded will help her progress. Many patients benefited from her expert hands while performing dialysis and injections. Nurse Li-Shia is dedicated to help dialysis patients through tough times by giving genuine care, educating patients, and showing unconditional love to the patients.

One memorable case Nurse Li-Shia has dealt with was a 72 years old patient. Initially, due to her pulmonary edema she was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit to receive emergency hemodialysis. After examination, she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. The patient was living across the street from our hospital yet she chose Taipei’s hospital to continue her therapy. Her son had to transport her daily back and forth from Taoyan to Taipei. This motivated Nurse Li-Shia to work even harder to demonstrate her expertise and care to the patient. Slowly, the patient started to gain trust and has established a relationship with our heath care provider ever since. She has been active in group patient education and has been strongly encouraging other dialysis patients.

With humanity and passion, Nurse Li-Shia’s shares her knowledge to treat every single case and provides superior care to patients. Her belief in nursing duties holds true to Ming-Sheng’s core value “HOPES.” Her hard work and unconditional love should be recognized and appreciated.
