Lirio Cortes-Valez

I would like to recommend Lee (Lirio) for the DAISY Award, as she exemplifies all the qualities. Lee always greets her patients with a welcoming smile. She is compassionate, as she can be seen sitting at her patient’s bedside either praying or listening to them with and empathetic ear. She continually updates and spends quality time with her patient’s education them on medications and plan of care.

Patients often come back to our unit seeking her out to thank her for the wonderful care she gave them, and what a difference she made in their lives. “They felt they were in good hands”.

Finally, Lee is an active member of our unit’s NPC and led our community project of collecting supplies and can goods for “The Circle of Friends” (a house which helps house patients/family members during their hospital/treatment stay).

Lee is truly an asset to our unit.
