Mae Silverio

If you have ever been a patient, you will likely remember feelings of uncertainty or even some anxiety. How will surgery go? Will I have pain? Who will look after me? For this nominator, all fears vanished with the arrival of his nurse, Mae Silverio.

“Mae was there when I needed very special care and attention after my heart bypass surgery and pacemaker surgery – making sure I was comfortable when I needed to sit up in a chair, taking extra time when I needed to go to the bathroom, and working quickly and carefully when changing my bed linens. Not only did Mae give excellent medical care, but she was conscientious about giving my medications on time.”

The nominator said that even with Mae’s busy work schedule, she never left his bedside for long. And, it was her confident, quiet manner and caring personality that made this hospital visit much easier.

“I knew I was in good hands while she was on  duty. Mae has been working for 10 years at Saint Agnes and deserves such an award.  Thanks for the chance to have met her and the opportunity to have had her for my nurse.”
