Marie Mejia

My elderly husband has had 2 major abdominal surgeries in the last 2 months. The current hospitalization is one of once a month duration and fraught with numerous complications and a surgery. Since he has been here he is confused, he is not cooperative with any attempts to get him moving.  The first time Marie, the charge nurse, came into the room to help work with my husband, she was able to get him to a chair even in his confusion.  This I promise is a minor miracle and big breakthrough for us. She went above and beyond to help my husband and certainly exemplifies the ‘healing touch’ with my husband. What she has I do not think can be taught. She exhibits such a compassionate but firm manner that certainly resonates with even confused patients.  PT & OT had given up.  I feel she has saved my husband from a feeding tube and nursing home by starting  him on the road to recovery.  She is an extraordinary Nurse and a role model.
