Nomination from a Patient: “ I couldn’t ask for a better nurse.  Marilyn was wonderful.  I have been through heart surgery and numerous other hospitalizations in the past and Marilyn is by far the best nurse I have ever had care for me.  I can’t stress enough how wonderful, patient and kind she was during my entire stay.”

Nomination from an RN, Family Member: “There is not one specific situation, Marilyn was wonderful all 3 days I was staying with my Aunt.  Being an RN myself I can assure you she was extremely thorough in all her assessments and very patient and calm.  She has a wonderful bedside manner.  My Aunt was completely at ease with her and was very lucky to have Marilyn taking care of her.”

Nomination from an MD: “ It is difficult to choose just one situation in which Marilyn demonstrated DAISY Award nursing.  So, I’ll narrow it down to 2.  I was recently seeing a post-op patient and had questions.  Even though it was not her patient, she stopped what she was doing and assisted me.  While at the bedside, the patient needed help to go to the bathroom; without batting an eye Marilyn patiently and cheerfully assisted the patient to the bathroom and back to bed.

Secondly, she was culled to another unit and as usual, her competent, cheerful-self phoned me about an infection she identified.  She had ALL the pertinent information I needed at her fingertips, took orders, read them back to me and carried them out.

These 2 paragraphs cannot begin to describe her excellence.  Marilyn would be a most worthy recipient of the DAISY award.”
