Maryellen Pirring

The July DAISY award was presented to Maryellen Pirring, RN from the Intensive Care Unit.  The sister of a patient, that Maryellen had cared for 8 years ago, recently called to speak with Maryellen’s supervisor.  The sister wanted to express the profound impact that Maryellen had on her life when she was 21 and witnessed her sister’s illness and untimely death.  The patients’ sister wanted to again meet Maryellen. She thinks of her so often because of the kind things she would say while caring for her loved one.  She also wanted Maryellen to know that she had been instrumental in getting her through the death of her sister.  The patient care facilitator that took the call from the sister nominated Maryellen for this award.
