Peggy Culver, BSN, RN

Oncology

Saint Luke's Hospital

Kansas City, Missouri

Peggy Culver was nominated for the DAISY Award by her former patient’s daughter. The patient had been admitted after a stroke.  The nomination states that while there were many caring and skillful nurses who were involved in the patient’s care, Peggy stood out as one deserving of the DAISY Award.  She always goes the extra mile for her patients, and is passionate about playing the role of patient advocate and doing what is right for the patient.

The daughter explains, “Peggy, the RN on days, was awesome.  She was very good at explaining everything and making her comfortable.  The last day my mom was alive, Peggy was able to let her stay there, in her room to pass.  The EMTs were there to take her home.  Her breathing was very sporadic.  She knew that mom was about to cross over, and was very compassionate.  We did not have to move her.”

The daughter emphasized that Peggy and all the staff truly cared about her mother and made the situation easier for her.
