Rachel Tovi provides remarkable patient care with patience and empathy. For five years, Rachel has touched the lives of the patients and families she encounters at Children’s. She always takes the time to go the extra mile with a family, whether that means spending extra time teaching, using the language line to ensure full understanding or lending a caring ear to parents. Rachel shows incredible grace under pressure and does not lose her cool, even when she’s dealing with the most exasperated parents. She is also an excellent patient advocate. Rachel asks questions about the plan of care and makes suggestions to the team to make sure that each of her patients receives the best possible care. She recently noticed that a patient had been receiving twice-a-day, subcutaneous injections when a less painful therapy was available. She sat down with the doctor to ask about it and made her suggestion. The next day, the injections were discontinued in favor of the alternate therapy. Both the patient and parents were grateful for the change. Rachel works tirelessly to make sure patients are taken care of and that parents understand the treatments their children receive. By keeping the lines of communication open, Rachel shows how much she cares about patients and demonstrates excellence in patient care.
