Rebecca Okungu

Rebecca is described by a family member as sweet, caring, always with a smile on her face.  “She constantly was checking on my husband after surgery.  She constantly asked how he felt, if he needed anything, did we have any questions.  She made him feel like he was the only patient on the floor and we knew she was very busy.

One evening after a long and difficult day, my husband was disappointed that he would not be able to shower (did not get MD approval to do so because of cardiac monitoring) and he was very uncomfortable.  Close to the end of her shift, Rebecca made the time to come in and offer him a sponge bath. He called me (patient’s wife) later at home to say how much he appreciated her doing that because it was the end of a 12 hr shift and he knew she probably wanted to get home.

She puts the needs of the patient first, and we appreciated it very much”.
