Darlene Mullins

Darlene had a patient receiving IV antibiotics at home who was recently hospitalized. The patient had been taught to administer his own meds at home with a tubing extension. During hospitalization-the extension was removed. The patient is managed care and has only a limited amount of visits approved. When the nurse learned that he needed extension tubing added and a new clave on the end-she arranged to meet him at the hospital when he came in for a test at Diagnostic Imaging and add the extension and clave. Field staff are not paid by the hour so this was all done on her own time.
