Faye Ong

At a 7 a.m. surprise ceremony in the PACU on Sept. 10, Faye Ong, RN, BSN, learned that she had become the latest DAISY Award recipient at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Dozens of co-workers pulled chairs into the PACU and watched as Faye was made our September DAISY Award winner. Faye’s mother also was on hand to celebrate this special day with her daughter, who she says has always been “such a hard worker.” Faye’s nominator had these special things to say about her: “Well, what can I say about Faye? There are not enough wonderful adjectives in the dictionary to describe Faye. Working with her is a joy. If you see Faye is in charge, then you know that you will have a good day no matter how difficult or hectic the circumstances. In the PACU she does it all: Pre-op, PACU, ASC, charge nurse. She comes early if need be. She stays late if we’re busy. Her knowledge is immense and her ability to share is unlike anyone else’s. “The best advocate for patients, families and staff, she is truly a nurse’s nurse. Always calm, she can do multiple things at once without missing a step. Faye is a poster person for CHLA because she embodies all the best things about CHLA. Her love for her job and her patients and co-workers is evidenced by her willingness to help no matter how small or how big the job. Working with Faye is really a privilege. We just love her.” |
