James Scott
James Scott was nominated for the DAISY Award by the mother of a pediatric patient. His outstanding performance in this situation stands as a testament to the great work he does as a nurse every day at UCLA. “As the mother of a 17-month old I don't have a lot of time to explain what a major impact James Scott made on my son's stay here at UCLA. James was always on top of our needs and compassionate to my son’s age and his condition, but what impressed me is his application of applied thought process on ALL matters. He thought all orders and situations through and listened to a mother's input. If it weren't for James, my son would have had a painful and unnecessary procedure done. This would have affected his entire recovery. He was open and honest with all matters and was sure to interface with physicians, not just take their orders. No request was too small and no challenge too big. This is our fourth hospital and James is the most devoted and calming nurse we have ever had. As someone who spent much of my childhood in a hospital, I know the positive impact a great nurse can have on how a child heals.” |
