Jennifer Goode

Jen is an exceptional charge nurse in the PICU. Under extreme stress, she is always calm and leads her staff in a manner that says, "we are going to get through this together and everything is going to be all right." She has a very professional, caring affect. As a float nurse, she always says, "thank you for coming to our unit," and she is always available to educate and be a resource for fellow nurses. In addition to nurses, she is looked upon as a valuable resource for doctors as well. One night when I was the house supervisor, two doctors were arguing about policy and procedure for procedural sedation. Jen was willing to conference call with the doctors, resolve their issues and the physicians left the meeting with a greater understanding that directly benefited the patient and the other children in similar circumstances in the future. She exhibits outstanding customer service skills through her compassion for the kids and their families. I would definitely want her at the bedside if any of my own children had to be admitted to the PICU. Nominated by Linda Flynn, RN
