JoAnne intervened on the behalf of an elderly, non-English speaking woman at end of life with advanced cancer during triage in ED. She encouraged MDs to consult with palliative care team and family to initiate hospice care rather than aggressive hospital care in accordance with patient & family's wishes. This patient went home to family with hospice support and a plan of care in process for her final days.
