Julia Wauters

Julia received nominations from a variety of people. A physician said, “In my over 40 years in the medical professions I have seldom come across a nurse who has the same exceptional qualities as Julia. She is compassionate, empathetic, committed to our patients and an extremely effective health care provider. The Hypertension Clinic sees the most resistant cases in the Pacific Northwest, yet the success rate for this difficult population is over 80% and Julia is the person responsible for this success. She is available to her patients 24/7. She is a source of strength and reassurance when they are overwhelmed, worried about side effects or financial issues, or struggling with language. The Washington State Department of Health recognized her skill by appointing her as a panel member on a state-wide initiative.” Other staff said Julia’s effectiveness as a nurse is due in part to her good communication skills, not just the words but her tone and her gentleness. Julia interacts with her patients in a caring, comprehensive manner, teaching them and following up on their care. She calls in on her days off to check her voice mail and return calls to answer questions and offer support. “She has that kind of heart-feeling for her patients.” Julia works well with everyone in the clinic and is a leader and role model for her co-workers. Patients say of Julia, “The first time I met her I could tell that she was absolutely and totally focused on what was best for me, her patient. It was her mission as well as her passion to ensure that this procedure was accomplished with my comfort at the top of her priorities. Recently, I became aware of the passion Julia has for giving of herself to others and how, by just being Julia, she provides an excellent role model for all those who work with her. Julia truly has a gift and she shares it freely and naturally and exemplifies the true profession of nursing.“ |
