Kim Bryant, RN

Surgery, Hancock Regional Hospital

Greenfield, Indiana

  • We had a patient that came to surgery for a C-section.  We knew ahead of time it was a fetal demise.  This type of surgery is always difficult not only for the family, but the staff as well.  Kim Bryant, RN was the OR nurse for this case.  She was wonderful with the patient and family.  When the surgery was completed Kim continued with the patient to PACU and stayed at her bedside.  It is not the OR nurse’s responsibility to stay in PACU, but Kim had requested to stay with her to give the patient continuity and comfort.  Kim experienced the patient’s grief and held her hand and gave continued support.  Kim is an exceptional nurse who ALWAYS puts her patient’s interest first.
  • About a month ago, we had a patient that had a stillborn baby.  It was an extremely emotional and difficult time for everyone involved.  Kim kept her composure and stayed by the side of the patient throughout the surgical procedure and in the recovery room.  She helped the family see the baby and helped the patient with holding the baby.  Kim showed an immense amount of compassion and professionalism in a very difficult and emotional moment of time.  I believe she needs to be recognized for her excellence of care.
