Mariamma is an extraordinary nurse. What makes her special is the “heart” she brings to her profession for the past twenty-two years as a Beaumont Nurse. Not only are her patients the center of all that she does, but also the well-being of their family.
A letter from a 3-North patient describes how Mariamma helped a hospitalized patient and his wife deal with the death of their mother-in-law. This family stated she provided “tender loving care to the entire family”, taking the time to talk and provide comfort. Another letter shows the special relationship Mariamma had with a former cancer patient and how that caring extended to her husband beyond the walls of the hospital upon her death. She also cares about her colleagues – always ready to listen, advise and give a hug whenever needed.
