Scott Birman

Scott went out of his way to help the ICU staff gather equipment that one of the surgeons needed, to do a procedure at the bedside. The ICU charge nurse had spoken with the supervisor in OR and they were not really sure what was needed, so a phone call was placed to Scott and he immediately came over to investigate what was needed. Scott scoured the hospital looking for equipment that was needed. He found the equipment that was needed down in the basement in a pile of stuff that was to be thrown out. He brought all the equipment up to the ICU and took the time with the ICU staff to explain what the surgeon was going to be doing. After that he went to the ortho floor and spoke with the charge nurse there and showed her the equipment as well, since they had told him previously they did not know what kind of equipment it was. Scott took the time out of his day to immediately assist the ICU staff and to give a brief inservice to them. Another example of what a great nurse leader Scott is: There was a code early in the morning on one of the med/surg floors. During this code, anesthesia was needed and there was a delay getting an anesthetist to the bedside. Multiple pages went out overhead and Scott happened to hear them and came to the floor to see what was going on. Upon arrival to the floor, the patient was soon to be moved to CBICU. Scott helped transfer the patient as well as assist with anything that the code team needed. He is definitely a true team player. |
