Thelma Begay
Thelma Begay, RN was nominated by a member of our medical staff for her extraordinary performance on a daily basis. She is the supervisory clinical nurse of a satellite clinic on the Navajo reservation, which is 45 miles from the nearest hospital. In addition to supervisory duties, she is the clinical nurse and nurse preceptor. She has done a great job of teaching and mentoring, such that one of her new grad nurses was also nominated for The DAISY Award, which is an outstanding reflection on Thelma’s teaching and dedication to nursing. The nomination read: “Thelma consistently delivers her skills in emergency situations. She is dedicated, knowledgeable. She is also a client advocate and educator as well. She displays great dedication. The examples of all of these qualities are daily and too numerous to count!”
