Vera Mikshankiy

Vera is a nurse who shows her love for the nursing profession every night she works. She provides excellent care to all her patients in a calm and respectful manner. She communicates very well with her patients and is fluent in Russian. Vera has now become one of the core nurses here on the Accelerated Access Unit.

Vera cared for Mrs. B one night and successfully was able to build a trusting and caring relationship with this patient with a life-long debilitating illness who needed special attention. Vera demonstrated compassion towards the patient and met all of her needs, including her special wound care and repositioning needs. She took the time to explain every procedure in detail and answered all her questions when the patient was uncertain.

The patient expressed her gratitude towards Vera's compassionate care by telling the charge nurse of how great Vera was and resquested that Very be her nurse whenever possible. Mrs. B lived alone and felt Vera was a great nurse and great company.
