Yew-Choy Danny Liew

Danny’s clear communication, his empathy, and his ability to connect with patients and staff alike make him a standout nurse. The nominations he received make it apparent how appreciative his patients and coworkers are for all that he contributes to others. “While all the nurses I've met here have been excellent, Danny is way above even excellent nurses. I have very bad veins and usually need at least a few tries before anyone is able to get an IV working (they're short, crooked, they roll, etc.). I was amazed when 2 different ER nurses got IVs going in one try (the first one lasted only an hour). When the IV needed to be changed after I was admitted to a regular room, again I was amazed when Danny got it on the first try. When I needed a blood transfusion, a bigger vein was needed. While I understand that the general protocol is 2 tries someone else is called, I asked Danny to just keep trying until he got one. In the end, he was successful. I recently had surgery at another hospital. The doctors and nurses, including wound care nurses, gave me completely opposite instructions leaving me more than slightly confused. What doctors, their RNs and specialty RNs couldn't explain why I was getting contradictory information, Danny was the only health care professional who was able to make sense of it all and give me the opportunity to make an informed decision. He is truly an asset to this institution.” “Danny is an excellent RN and charge nurse. He is very helpful and knowledgeable. He is very much liked by all patients and staff.” |
