I am nominating Tonya Rivera, R.N., for the DAISY award because she demonstrates caring and compassion to her patients and their families. Several notes of recognition were submitted by her patients and highlight the impact she makes on them during their hospital stay. Following are excerpts from these notes.
“one of the best nurses on the floor…always on top of things…I was never in doubt about my situation…she should teach others how to conduct themselves…she was awesome.”
“had a rough night and Tonya took the initiative to check on me regularly throughout the day without causing me too much disruption.”
“excellent nurse, very patient especially when my dad’s mind was not there. She goes the extra mile.”
“upon learning that my wife turned 71 during my hospital stay she put me in a wheelchair and took my down to the gift shop for a gift and card.”
Tonya’s clinical skills are superb and she continues to excel in the clinical arena through leadership, mentoring, and continuing her education. She never stops putting patient’s first. She is described as the one who goes the extra mile to make a difference. She is very deserving of the DAISY award.
