Trudy Young

Mr. R has been coming to our ambulatory center for about a year to treat a sacral/buttocks ulcer without much success. About three weeks ago Trudy, a certified wound care RN, took it upon herself to speak with the surgeon and recommended a whole new approach to treat Mr. R’s ulcer. She obtained proper orders to monitor Mr. R’s nutrition status and diabetes control prior to starting the new treatment. Then she began the new wound care which consisted of wound debridement using a wound vac. For the past three weeks she has been doing the wound vac changes, even coming from home on her days off to be able to continue with treatment. During this time, Mr. R has shown signs of improvement and the wound is now healing. I truly feel that for all the facts stated above, Trudy is well deserving of the DAISY Award.
