Wanda Gibson

Wanda has been a Nurse Manager on a 35-bed medical unit for 23 years. She inspires all nursing staff.  She demonstrates her commitment to competent and effective clinical practice as she assists her staff when in need, maintains current hands on practice and role modeling effective conflict resolution and communication. Wanda encourages her staff to take accountability, supporting transformational leadership and professional development. She consistently volunteers to test new approaches on her unit. Under her leadership, new procedures and equipment have been piloted.

She has published several evidenced-based articles and she is chairman of the hospital patient fall prevention committee since 2009.

Her ethical values are well-defined and evident in her interactions with staff and patients. Her personal demeanor, her dignity and willingness to change contribute to the larger public's positive perception of nursing. Wanda’s personal integrity and well developed skills at mentoring and coaching enhance the perception of nursing leadership among frontline staff.
