Wei-Ya Yang

Nurse Yang has only worked in Min-Sheng Hospital’s OR for 2 years but has been a nurse for 15 years. Through her years of dedication in her nursing work, she has consistently performed well, putting patient safety first and focusing on prevention of post operative complication through active and consistent pre-operative education of patients and their families, in particular patients with diabetes. She pays particular attention to the patient’s blood sugar level before surgery. Nurse Yang believes the value of life is to maintain a healthy body through proper diet. Nurse Yang tirelessly educates her patients and families about the proper diet to minimize their health problems. She has consistently taken care of patients and families in an exceptional manner, and has performed beyond her job responsibilities. Her great personality and her passion for her works have inspired others nurses, and reminded other nurses of the reason for choosing nursing as a profession. She is an excellent role model for other nurses to follow. She was recognized by her peers and won the outstanding OR nurse for 2011. The surgeons in the OR see Nurse Yang as a trustworthy and skilled OR nurse; she meets the Nightingale’s spirit of helping people with passion, patience, caring, attentiveness, and respect. They trust her ability in assessing and recognizing any warning signs of changes in the patient’s condition. They unanimously voted her to be recognized as the DAISY award nurse for September.
