Julie Tillman

Julie is a living example of a DAISY Nurse in our unit.  She never passes the buck when there is an emergency or work to do.  She consistently volunteers for emergency deliveries.  She is one of the best team players I’ve ever worked with whether it’s a feeding, IV or delivery she is there.

There was a mom in NICU holding her infant and had her other child with her.  All of a sudden she started crying uncontrollable.  Julie was busy with another patient but she immediately stopped what she was doing.  The mom was upset because she was worried about her other infant.  She had taken drugs during her pregnancy and was worried about the effects.  Julie wasn’t judgmental.  Instead of standing over mom, she knelt down below her.  She placed her hand on her arm and offered her tissues and listened.  Mom shared some personal information with Julie.  This mom was very vulnerable.  Julie made her feel comfortable to confide in her and gave her information on the developmental clinic.

Julie displayed extraordinary kindness and compassion.  She went above and beyond in character and professionalism.  Julie is an unsung hero in the NICU.
