I met Alexa several days ago. The minute I met her I sensed how kind, thoughtful, and patient she was. Alexa really cared about me and I knew it. She made me feel special. She was always on time and thoroughly gave me all of my medicine and other things I needed. Always a smile on her face.

There really isn't one circumstance or story that overrides in exceeds or the importance of another. I would like to recognize Alexa for being an outstanding nurse - being patient, responsive, and caring. I am one of the most difficult people to deal with every time I am admitted to a hospital as a patient, and no matter how much of a bad attitude I gave to her, she still remained professional and humble, and also continued to keep my needs and wants as the first priority while following protocol.

My best friend was admitted to Emory University Hospital. Our assigned evening nurse was Alexa Taylor. At 0530 my friend experienced a potentially deadly allergic reaction that caused significant swelling to her face, tongue, and limbs. On her way to the bathroom, my friend fainted. I called for help and Alexa was the first to arrive. She was calm and supportive, exhibiting remarkable care and compassion. The entire ordeal was challenging and frightening. Partnering with the physician, Alexa led the immediate steps for critical care.
My friend recovered and remained hospitalized. Alexa continued to educate us on the treatment plan and provided outstanding care. What is most impressive is we learned Alexa is nine months out of nursing school! Emory is fortunate to have her. She holds up all the values of the DAISY Award.
