Alexis was a very competent nurse that took care of our sister being ever vigilant that she was in comfort care which our sister had asked for. This included consistent meds for pain, best breathing position possible, checking her leg position, always checking her brief, swabbing her mouth for dryness, and asking her if she needed anything, when she was still cognizant. When our sister forgot she had a catheter and wanted to get up to go to the bathroom the situation was always explained to her with compassion. Also, each and every time Alexis came into the room to help our sister she always asked if my brother or I had any questions or needed anything, which we were grateful for. When our sister's departure appeared closer, Alexis, my brother and I concurred to change the frequency of meds, which kept the family in the loop of what was happening. The care Alexis exhibited was superbly professional and given with empathy, diligence, sincerity, and compassion.

Recently, our sister passed away. She worked at Mary Lanning for 25+ years mostly in the Pediatric Department. There were many fine nurses who gave wonderful testimonies about how wonderful she was with kids. That was our sister- loving, caring, kind, and dependable. We miss her very much. Although it was extremely hard to watch her in hospice, there is no doubt she had excellent care from start to finish. Alexis was our sister's nurse at night until the end. I personally worked for 16 years as a paramedic, so I know a little about health care. Alexis was, I believe, just like our sister in that she expressed the same kind of caring heart that our sister had. It is hard for me to put into words how wonderful Alexis treated our sister, my brother and me. Since we stayed with our sister 24/7, we observed the professional care all your staff performed. The last night our sister was alive I was trying to sleep in a recliner and around 3 am I looked over to check her and Alexis was at our sister's bed just watching. There was such care and love emanating in the room that I teared up. Alexis is truly in her element as a nurse.
