5B recently had a special patient on the floor who required a lot of extra attention and care. He was proving to be quite the challenge for the staff on the floor. Alicia chose to care for the patient, even though she was in charge that day because she knew the patient the best and had more time to spend with him. Watching her care for that patient was so amazing. She is so patient, caring and knowledgeable. She is an amazing nurse to work with. I would trust her to care for any of my family members.

I am always looking for a way to honor this wonderful person constantly because every day working with Alicia is a blessing. She is the most selfless person I have ever come across and she makes the job a breeze for anyone working with her. Alicia goes above and beyond her job responsibility in an environment where the needs are not black and white. She strives to provide support for all staff and advocates for patients in the most humbling and extraordinary way. Alicia is the communication link to all aspects of the team necessary to provide the care needed by the patients. She includes everybody at all times. Great sense of humor that makes the working day blissful. I don't have enough room to describe her but it's always a pleasure to work with her.

Alicia is just incredible. Very knowledgeable, professional and a team player. She is a great resource person and a great asset too. Alicia treats every patient as if they are family, makes them feel welcome and comfortable. She educates them and the families. She is just awesome.

We learned shortly after the doctor left my husband's room that he spoke with nurse Alicia on 5B, the charge nurse. He told her that the day before another nurse told him that my husband did not qualify for Allied Rehab. This was never shared with us and the anxiety level for me and my husband escalated as we were under the impression he would go to Allied. I was not sure how I would care for him at home, let alone get him inside the house in his present condition, especially with no prescriptions in place (hospital bed, meds, oxygen, nursing care). I told the doctor my husband would not be able to get into our van and I need to make some preparations before I could bring him home. Fortunately, Alicia was there and she went and called the nurse who the doctor said told him my husband was not qualified for Allied Rehab. Alicia then called Allied Rehab who confirmed they were holding a bed for my husband. Alicia spoke with us and then confirmed ambulance transport to Allied.

My husband came in for pancreatitis and was extremely sick. I came in and Alicia was one of the greatest nurses I have ever met or seen in action as an employee and also as a patient relative. I explained my concerns with his progress and discharge plans because the day before my husband was admitted I had taken him to a rehab center for alcoholism. I wanted to make sure they knew about his medical condition. His blood pressure was through the roof (227/147). Alicia helped me fight so hard to change his medicine and make sure it came down before we left. She also helped me understand it, helped me get a diet plan for him and took the time out of her busy day to teach us how important this illness is and if he goes back to drinking what would happen. He had her for about 3-4 days while in the hospital. Each day she just showed her pride and was very caring to him and his needs. When we learned he was being discharged he then told me he didn't want to go back to rehab, he wanted to come home but Alicia helped us weigh out the pros and cons and told us how she felt and we made a team decision. I took him home the next day. He attended AA and set goals for himself and things to stay busy. As of today he is 24 days sober. Next week will make a month. Without Alicia I don't feel my husband would've been so serious about getting sober or healthy. I can't thank her enough and she went above and beyond. I also witnessed her going above with other patients as well sitting and talking with them for a while making sure they had their needs met as well. I wish there was more I could do for her.
