Mother and daughter, Alicia Watley, LPN and Hannah Watley, RN went above and beyond the call of duty.
These two nurses were in the right place at the right time one Sunday morning. They attended church that Sunday and while waiting forservice to begin a church member collapsed in a room behind the altar. Both nurses were at the patient's side within minutes and started CPR, AED was placed and performed. EMS was called and these nurses along with a doctor, assisted EMS at the church and while en route to ER. On ER arrival this patient remained unresponsive, CPR in progress with several ER nurses and 2 ER doctors working on him. A miracle happened that day, after the fast thinking and quick CPR that was started, this patient is alive today. After a long time of performing a code blue on him, he responded to the meds and treatment and eventually was talking to the ER staff. Once the patient was stabilized the patient was transferred to a high care facility. Before the patient left the spouse of the patient told me to thank the two nurses at church that day because they saved her "heart". Alicia and Hannah have visited the patient and his wife in rehab for hours. You don't often see that.
Working in critical care areas you don't always know what happens to the patient after they leave your area, but this is one we have all kept up with. He is alive with minimal deficits thanks to the speedy response and nursing instincts of these two nurses. God knew what he was doing that day when He had everyone where they were that Sunday morning.
