I live in Indiana and have had my share of hospital stays. In November 2013 and February 2014, I was admitted to Good Samaritan, both times I was in the CV H.A.R.T. Unit. The nursing staff there was wonderful, but there was one nurse who stood out, Alma Eustace. Not only did she walk in with a smile every time, she showed compassionate care, good people skills, motivation, and always went that extra mile to make sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable. She made sure my bedding was changed and even helped place my food orders because I had forgotten to bring my glasses. Being from Indiana, my family was not able to be with me every day, and Nurse Alma was always there to cheer me up. When my family did visit, she reassured them that I was in good hands and kept them up-to-date on my health. After leaving the hospital to go home, Nurse Alma has kept in touch, if just to say "hello" and see how my health is. Nurse Alma will always be that caring, compassionate, trustworthy, helpful, responsible, joyful person, and will always be an outstanding role model in the nursing community. I am happy and proud to say that Nurse Alma was there to provide me with the best health care I needed during my stay at Good Samaritan. She is someone special and well deserving of the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurse!
