Amanda deserves recognition for her outstanding patient care. When I began working in the MICU, Amanda was the nurse I looked up to as a role model. She seamlessly goes through her shift, juggling all of her duties in an effortless manner and is always willing to pass her knowledge onto the new staff.

Amanda is a Clinical Ladder IV, holds her PCCN certification, and is currently pursuing her BSN. Her collegues comment that Amanda makes her patients feel at ease and connects with them on a personal level. One example is that of a very critically ill oncology patient who was nearing the end of life. Amanda successfully built a rapport with the family and enabled them to feel control over his care. She created a better environment for the patient, family, and staff; and the patient's condition began to slowly improve. It was amazing for the staff to see this patient's progression and the improvement in the relationship between his family and the staff.

Amanda is well known for educating patients and their families. She helps them stay informed on their care during the hospital stay and educates them on how to succeed once they return home. She explains disease processes and recovery measures, always including family members whenever possible. Amanda is truly someone who always gives 100% in her care. She treats her patients as she would want her family members treated.
