The Friday two days after my surgery, Amanda came on duty that morning and my O2 levels were lower than they should have been and I was progressively feeling worse. She quickly recognized this and took action. I ended up having chest X rays and a lung scan to rule out blood clots. They also had to place an NG tube, not a pleasant experience, but it did make me feel better. Throughout this difficult day, Amanda remained by my side. She even accompanied me when I was taken down for the lung scan and made sure they were as gentle as possible when moving me. When I said to her, "You must have other patients to look after" she simply replied, "today you are my only patient." I do not know if it was true or not, but she sure made me feel like I was. Amanda gave me confidence in the care I was receiving. My wife (who was also with me throughout the day) said to me, "now that is a good nurse" and I could not agree more. I had Amanda as my nurse the following Monday. She is a floater and told me she requested me as a patient. By this time my condition had improved a lot and I give her a lot of the credit for that because of the action she took.
