At 4 in the morning, I arrived at L&D via ambulance in extreme pain. I was scared, clueless and hurting. At 34 weeks pregnant, I woke up in a pain that no one could bear. When I arrived my baby no longer had a heartbeat. At this point, I lost all hope and emotionally disconnected myself from life. The doctor explained that I was going to have to deliver my stillborn son, this is when I met my savior, Amanda Rose. Such a beautiful name with a matching soul. From the minute I met her, she made sure to holistically take care of my mind, body, and soul. Her words were so kind and her presence stood close, she never left my side. Unfortunately, after birth, I developed DIC and HELLP syndrome. Amanda was able to quickly determine this and constructed the plan for the team to begin to save my life. Her assessment and early judgment skills are what saved my life. She was able to identify what was going on so that treatment could begin. While I laid in bed bleeding to death she maintained her composure. She educated my family and me as things took place. Amanda is truly amazing, she took care of my stillborn son, while working with the team to save my life, and kept my scared family calm. Wow, this woman was great. Not only was she a great nurse but each tear that she dropped for me made me realize what a great person she is. She did not eat or take one break until I was safely transferred to the ICU and placed in the good hands of other caregivers. I do not know where she comes from but whoever made her the nurse she is today, molded a phenomenal RN. God introduces people in your life for different reasons and I know he placed Amanda in mine to be my angel. Amanda will never be forgotten. I truly believe if it was not for her I would not be alive to write this letter. I love this woman with every bit of me. There are not enough thank yous in this world to show how much she means to me and my family. Most importantly my son who is now watching over us.
