My mother was recently diagnosed and had colon surgery at Mercy West. Her surgery was rough on her and she was readmitted two times after her surgery. This was obliviously very scary and my mother was very anxious throughout this journey and throughout her stays at Mercy West.
Amanda helped ease this difficult time in her life and my mother is very grateful for that. Amanda exhibits everything you envision when thinking about what a nurse should be. Amanda showed excellent professionalism and skill related to her profession, and always seemed to go above and beyond. She was compassionate, supportive, encouraging, caring, kind, and empathic in a very genuine way. She was prompt and did everything that she said she would in a timely manner. She kept us well informed and was very understanding with any requests made by my family, my mother, and me. Every interaction with Amanda was positive and I could sense her true consideration and attention to my mother and her needs.
I could tell she was an exceptional nurse before I met her by simply having a phone conversation with her. Amanda is the type of nurse that I hope I am and that every nurse should mimic, as her kindness, compassion, selflessness, awareness, and knowledge made my mother's stay at Mercy West exceptional. I will be forever grateful for her strength and kindness.

Amanda went beyond the call of duty today. A patient was in environmental protection. His nurse went in and tried to calm him when he became agitated. His nurse did a good job, but the patient continued to be agitated. Amanda walked past the room a bit later, collaborated with his nurse and spent 10 minutes calming the patient down. This was very effective and the patient became quiet.
