Ameera is caring, compassionate, respectful, intuitive, and a great team player. She is always consistent in the provision of high-quality and skillful care. Ameera is truly an inspiration for all nurses, new and seasoned, and a very valuable resource for our floor.

Here are a few examples of the positive things patients and co-workers had to say about Ameera.

• From a former 5th floor charge and recently returned floor nurse"
Ameera is one of the most patient people I have ever met. She is so nurturing & caring to the patients. I have seen this more than once; patients when they are leaving are asking if she can be their nurse the next hospitalization. She is a rule follower. She spends time talking to the patients. She has been so patient with me in orientation; when I am asking the same question for the millionth time she acts like it is the first time I have asked it( I finally started writing things down.)If this isn't enough please let me know I want to see her get this award. She is a wonderful person to everybody."

• From the 5th floor unit secretary - "A true nursing service excellence, magnet nursing employee! Ameera's tender care may be witnessed daily. Intuitive, efficient, complete care by a woman who truly cares."

• From a former patient - "Ameera ... was a wonderful, attentive, caring young woman and I am so grateful for her work on my behalf."

• From an RN, CICU - "Ameera had a transfer to CICU. She assisted with drawing critical labs and initiating transfusions before the patient went to the OR, emergently. Valuable time, not to mention continuity of care, was preserved for this patient who was hemodynamically unstable. Ameera exhibited good clinical judgment, accuracy, and patient advocacy - all making for a safer hand off of care. Thank you Ameera!"

• From a KCKCC nursing student - "Ameera was a wonderful nurse to work with. I appreciate her help as well as her knowledge. She took the time to explain things to me and was very patient. It is nice to work with nurses that are willing to teach new things to us on top of their hectic schedule."

• From a former patient - "Thank you so much for your care/concern for me while I was in the hospital. It takes a special person to take the time to show the compassion you showed me during my stay. Thank you for making the preparation (colonoscopy) a little easier to take. You are a great asset to the nursing profession."

• From a former NKCH RN and patient - "This angel of a nurse never ceases to amaze me with her abundance of knowledge about nursing, compassion, attention to details, and sheer guts when it comes to taking care of patients as sick as I am. She is always on top of all of my health issues, critical labs, and changes in status; all are dealt with appropriately and communicated to my physician for remedy. She is always taking her time to explain what is next to be done and follows the plan of care to the letter. I always feel safe when Ameera is working with me. Thanks Ameera for a job always well done!"

These are just a few examples of the positive things patients and co-workers had to say about Ameera. On the 5th floor we feel blessed to have her as a member of our team and we all know that when Ameera is on her patients will be well cared for. When Ameera is in charge things run smoothly and any issues presented will be handled promptly, appropriately, and with respect. Ameera is the model of what nurses and DAISY Award recipients should be and is more than deserving of this award.
