I wanted to take this opportunity to commend Amy's compassionate care that she gave to a dying patient and his family. The patient had been in CCU for several days. His prognosis was very poor. His wife was at his bedside. The decision had been made to continue only comfort care. His wife was naturally upset and wanted to make him as comfortable as possible. Other immediate family were traveling here but was questionable whether they would make it here before he died. Amy took the time to ask the wife what she thought her husband would like or need to make him more comfortable. She took her phone out and played music that her husband would like. She made sure that his wife was close by him and was as comfortable as she could be. Amy ensured privacy that would allow his wife time alone with her husband. Amy also updated the children/family as they were traveling here to be with him. The patient did not make it through the night but died a peaceful death and his wife was very grateful. This is just a small example of the compassionate care that Amy delivers to each of her patients on a daily basis. She is one of the finest nurses that I know and it is an honor to work with her.
