Amy was nominated for the DAISY Award by the husband of her patient.

"From the first day that Amy was caring for my wife, there was a difference. She moved faster and seemed more responsive to not only my wife's needs, but to the family's concerns as well. She showed a care and compassion for what she does for her patients, as well as for me and my mother -in-law. Amy was caring for her for days during those weeks and there was a sense of relief each day that we saw she was the RN because we knew she was in good hands. Spending that much time in a hospital you start to notice patterns- for Amy it was much more than making rounds, giving meds and repositioning."

Amy's compassion and desire to help others was first discovered in her early childhood years when her first grade teacher wrote on her report card "Amy needs to keep to herself and stop trying to help others." Her need to help others was also reflected in her care for animals, she recalls bringing home many stray or wounded animals to nurture and care for. Amy finally met her nursing mentor at the age of 16 who later became her step-mom in a family full of health care professionals. Amy states that she showed her the path into the nursing profession. Amy's goal in life is to make a difference in at least one persons life everyday.

Congratulations to Amy White who deserves a big thank-you for her extraordinary and compassionate nursing care.
