My family and I would like to recognize the dedicated, compassionate care of Andrea Manzanares, who took such great care of our father for several days. He was admitted for generalized weakness and r/o iron deficiency. He also suffers from COPD.
My father brought his own inhalers to the hospital which he could not use. The inhalers the hospital provided were different and not prescribed by the hospitalist like my father is normally prescribed which upset him. He was frustrated and complained he could not breathe or participate in his treatment or care. He was ready to leave.
Andrea proactively advocated for our father and spoke with the doctor to get the right medication at the right time at the right dose providing for the best clinical outcome. Our father could breathe, allowing him to participate in his care and treatment. He left the hospital feeling better and grateful for his care! Andrea's exceptional efforts at listening to what my father needed as a patient and her persistent involvement in his care resulted in my father's positive outcome.
