I wanted to take a minute and say thank you to Angela Aran, the charge nurse in Neuro ICU. There was a patient who needed an MRI completed overnight as a pre-operative requirement. The patient needed to have IV Versed administered after repeat doses of IV Ativan did not relax her enough to endure the scan. The neurosurgical resident and ARNP both offered to meet the patient and 8C2 RN in the MRI scanner to expedite the scan completion because policy prohibited 8C2 from administering Versed. I called and spoke with the ARNP for neurosurgery and with STAT team that was tied up with a patient decompensating on 6A. Angela was kind enough to come transport the patient to the MRI scan, sit and monitor the patient throughout the scan and assist with transport of the patient back to 8C2 at 0600 in the morning when the neurosurgical resident was no longer available to assist (as he was in morning rounds). Angela offered to help and made a challenging situation exceptional for everyone involved. I cannot thank her enough for all of her help and the staff of 8C2 wanted me to thank her for all of her help. They all said she was so kind and it meant the world to them that she was able to come assist them.
