On a SUPER BUSY Monday, in a Level I Trauma Center ER, during one of the worst flu seasons I've seen in my career, Angela was an absolute rock star in Triage. She instantly recognized an active focal seizure in a 3 day old; who subsequently was found to have extensive skull fractures following a dog bite to the head on Day 1 of life, with recent discharge from B4. During this same shift, she also escalated (to the Attending) a neonate who she recognized in triage as septic. Approx. 2 hours later. The patient's rectal temp was 35.4.
These are just two examples of how Angela's clinical judgment, patient assessments, and dedication to appropriately and thoroughly triaging every patient (regardless of our department's high census), really makes this ER safer and I am so proud to work alongside her.

Angela recognized a 3-day old who was actively seizing. This patient had recently been discharged following a dog bite to the head on Day 1 of life. Angela recognized the very slight rhythmic movement of the neonate's hand as a focal seizure. She immediately escalated patient care where it was discovered the child had multiple skull fractures with hemorrhage. This patient presented 8 hours into her 12-hour shift in Triage. Thus, demonstrating it doesn't matter how tired she is, every single patient gets her full attention. There is no telling how much angst she single-handedly saved this patient and family from. Angela TRULY keeps our very busy emergency department safe.
