One nurse made a huge impression on us. Her name is Angelina. Her warm and friendly smile lit up the room. My husband has Stage 4 liposarcoma and had a bad reaction to chemo that landed him in the hospital. We met her on or about our 21st day on the floor. She entered with the off-going nurse and introduced herself, asked if we needed anything and said she would return. She did her assessment and went off to her other patients. I was staying with my husband at night. Around 1 or 2 am she entered the room and saw me sitting looking at my husband, watching him breathe. I was so afraid his heart was going to give out any minute. I shared my fears with her. I cried and she held me, telling me that she understood my fears. She said that I needed to rest and that she would be right back. She came back with a small machine that would beep a warning to let us know if he should stop breathing (although he had other numerous machines hooked onto him). She did this for my peace of mind, I will forever carry her kindness in my heart. All of the staff on 5C are exceptional. Their kindness shines through.
