Ann is an excellent leader in charge, a thorough and intelligent bedside nurse, and a strong, stubborn patient advocate. Her co-worker illustrates one poignant example of her advocacy and strong clinical skills that occurred in the middle of the night.

A new admission was showing rapid evolution of stroke symptoms and progressive deterioration. Due to Ann's quick thinking and patient advocacy, the patient was tele-stroked and transferred to Hershey Medical Center. What resonates the most are her comments afterward. Her compassion and care led her to doubt and question "what else could I have done?", "should I have done something differently?" It was clear that her clinical skills and quick intervention improved the patient outcome, but it is her strength of character that makes her an ideal DAISY recipient and a clear nursing role model.
