Autumn Jackson, RN, Emergency Department, was recognized for outstanding clinical skills and compassionate care in numerous patient letters. Autumn has been consistently acknowledged for providing excellent, compassionate care to her patients and their families.

The daughter of one elderly patient praised her for the “gentle” care she provided for her mother, stating she went “above and beyond” in the amount of time she spent with the patient as well as continually updating family members on her condition while she was in the emergency room. In the course of this patient’s stay in the department, the family also noted the wonderful job Autumn did in mentoring other staff.

A family member of another elderly patient commended Autumn for her kind, compassionate care and the patience she demonstrated when caring for her elderly mother who was confused and admitted for altered mental status. Even under trying circumstances when the emergency department is extremely busy, she has been singled out by patients and their family members for taking the time to connect with patients and deliver thoughtful, compassionate care.

One woman describes such an experience when her mother, ill and cold, was waiting in the E.D. for a room to become available. On a visibly hectic day, Autumn took the time to “wrap my mother in blankets and wash her face. This brought tears to my eyes to see a nurse take just a minute to provide that type of care to my mother as I was feeling that I could not leave her because she could not speak for herself. Autumn was wonderful.”
