My daughter suffered a massive stroke at the young age of 22. She had no warning, no indications; there was never a problem. She was a very active, kind-hearted, full of life 22-year-old working towards a degree in social work. So, you can imagine our feelings when this tragic incident occurred. The first night at Barnes, we were blessed to have a nurse who very quickly had a huge impact on a mother and daughter who were scared to death.
Ben showed more compassion, patience and care for not only my daughter but made every attempt possible to answer the million questions I had. He would make my daughter as comfortable as possible, but at the same time show as much concern for everything I needed. He asked questions about who she was before this happened, listened to my never ending stories regarding the things she had done, looked at numerous pictures of her and the life she lived to the fullest. The world needs more people like Ben. I can assure you, he made our first night bearable and I thank God for him.
