Beth has a 60-year-old male cancer patient who has special needs. She has gone above and beyond to help comfort this patient during this difficult time. Beth spent time building a coloring/activity book for the patient that was both educational and relaxing. Also, she provided a mask and gown, exactly like what the nurses would be wearing, so the patient could play dress-up and become familiar with what his nurses wear to lessen his anxiety and help him to be comfortable with them. In addition, Beth is going to the American Cancer Society to get reading materials for the patient so that they can read together.
Beth is an incredible person and talented nurse. She has accepted her new role with enthusiasm and works very hard to individualize the services she provides to all of her patients. She makes herself readily available and is proving to be a true blessing to our patients as they cope during this difficult time.
