At the completion of surgery (very successful), my husband was admitted to the south tower. He was in that post-surgery "fuzz" and in pain, and I was standing there feeling helpless and useless. That's when Bev walked in and introduced herself. For the next two days, she worked around and through my husband's babble and generally confused state, showing care and compassion that I, frankly, did not have at that moment.

Then came the moment when she came in to say she would be off duty the following day. I nearly cried. I had come to depend on her; just seeing her walk through the door calmed me and reassured me that everything was under control. When we asked if we would see her again, she said she couldn't say. She was a float nurse, and would go where help was needed. Float nurse? Ah - Float nurse! I KNEW she was an angel.

Turns out all the nurses and PCAs were just as wonderful as Bev, and we met a lot them in twelve days, but Bev was the first, and my personal angel. Thank you, Bev, for your calm demeanor, the professional care you offered, and your gentle sense of humor that kept me on an even keel during those first tumultuous days.
